Leicester City failed with an attempt to sign Gil Vicente centre-back Gabriel Pereira during the winter transfer window, it has been claimed in Brazil.
The Foxes brought in one new signing in the form of Stefano Sensi from Inter Milan in the final hours of the winter transfer period.
Leicester had financial fair play considerations in the winter window and needed to sell players before trying to buy new faces.
However, they did try to bring in more and had their eyes on Sao Paulo’s Lucas Beraldo, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in January.
According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Leicester turned their eyes towards trying to get their hands on Gil Vicente’s 23-year-old centre-back Pereira.
The Foxes approached the Portuguese outfit to try and work out an agreement for the signature of the defender in January.
However, Gil Vicente stayed firm and decided against selling the centre-back to Leicester in the winter window.
They want to hold on to him until the summer before considering any offers to sell the defender.
