Former Bundesliga star Jan Aage Fjortoft believes Crystal Palace will get a coach with a proven track record if they rope in Oliver Glasner.

Crystal Palace are in talks with Glasner to replace Roy Hodgson in the dugout at Selhurst Park and the Austrian is keen on taking the job.

There are suggestions that Hodgson could leave Crystal Palace with immediate effect if a deal is agreed upon between the former Eintracht Frankfurt coach and the Eagles.

Fjortoft believes Crystal Palace will do well if they can attract Glasner to Selhurst Park given his proven track record in Germany where he took Wolfsburg to the Champions League and won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt.

He stressed that the Austrian has a streak of pragmatism and his team play direct and quick attacking football.

Fjortoft took to X and wrote: “If Crystal Palace go for Oliver Glasner they get a manager with a great track record, taking Wolfsburg to the Champions League and winning the Europa League with my German club Eintracht.

“He is a pragmatic coach.

“Likes his teams to play direct, intense and going forward with speed.

“As a leader, ‘intelligent’ and curious to develop himself and his team.”

Crystal Palace are wary of getting dragged into the relegation dogfight and have been worried about their form under Hodgson.
