Dan Ashworth has today asked to leave Newcastle United as he seeks to go to Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester United have made bringing Ashworth in to help with their recruitment a priority as they reshape their off the pitch team.

Ashworth has impressed with his work at St James’ Park, with Newcastle progressing quickly under Eddie Howe.

Ashworth though is keen to answer the call from Manchester United and is now pushing for the switch to happen.

And in a new development, Ashworth has today told Newcastle that he wants to leave.

He has clearly informed the Magpies of his desire to move on.

The ball is now in Manchester United’s court to reach an agreement with Newcastle for Ashworth’s services.

The Magpies could demand a big fee to let him go, while also insisting on a period of gardening leave before he takes his post at Old Trafford.

Howe has expressed his desire for a quick solution to the situation and it appears Ashworth now also wants one.
