Dan Ashworth is keen to take Bruno Guimaraes to Manchester United from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, it has been claimed in Spain.

The Brazilian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window.

Newcastle could be forced to sell one of their star players in the summer to ease the financial fair play pressure and Guimaraes is a player who could be moved on.

Manchester City are big admirers of the player and Liverpool and Chelsea are also believed to be keeping tabs on him.

According to Spanish sports daily AS, Guimaraes has also emerged as a target for Manchester United.

Ashworth’s expected arrival at Manchester United is set to make the Brazilian a target for the club.

The outgoing Newcastle sporting director is a big fan of the player and wants to take him to Old Trafford.

Ashworth is not expected to take up his role before the end of the next window but will endorse Guimaraes to the Manchester United transfer team.

He has a €117m release clause in his contract and Newcastle will demand the full figure before agreeing to sell him.
