Maurizio Sarri has rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest to take over at the City Ground as he is keen to recharge his batteries.

Sarri recently left his post as Lazio boss and his availability has already made him a popular option for sides looking for a new boss.

Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest are admirers of what the former Chelsea manager brings to the table.

And, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, Forest have been in touch with Sarri about taking over, despite having a manager in place.

They put a three-year deal in front of the Italian tactician, with the promise of a major transfer budget in the summer if he keeps them up.

Sarri would have slotted in to replace Nuno as boss immediately had he accepted.

The Italian though rejected Nottingham Forest as he wants to take a break to recharge his batteries.

Sarri believes he will be ready to take over a new club in the summer and it remains to be seen if Nottingham Forest come calling for him once again.

He has experience of English football due to a spell in charge of Chelsea.
