Newcastle United are keeping track of Nottingham Forest’s 24-year-old attacker Morgan Gibbs-White, with an eye on Forest’s need to comply with financial fair play rules, according to the Athletic.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers academy graduate has done a good job with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side so far this season making 12 goal contributions in 32 Premier League games.

However, his contributions have not been enough to save Nottingham Forest’s blushes as they stare at the prospect of getting relegated from the top flight after being penalised for breaching sustainability rules.

They could well need to balance the books again in the summer and Gibbs-White is a player that Newcastle rate highly.

The Magpies are keeping close track of his situation at the City Ground as the summer transfer window approaches.

Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen in the summer and Gibbs-White could be a good fit for his final third options.

It remains to be seen how much Newcastle United want the player and how much they are willing to offer to Nottingham Forest to get a deal done.

Newcastle are watching profit and sustainability rules themselves, but Gibbs-White may be an option they do not want to pass up.
