Aston Villa have carried out checks on Slovenia and Udinese centre-back Jaka Bijol with a view to potentially signing him this summer.

The Villans have just signed Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus as part of the deal that saw Douglas Luiz move to the Serie A giants.

Unai Emery is demanding more additions as he looks to have a squad that will be in the Champions League next season.

The Aston Villa boss wants more defensive reinforcements and the club have been studying several profiles ahead of making a move for a top target.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Aston Villa have made enquiries into the possibility of signing Udinese’s Bijol.

The Midlands club have carried out surveys on the centre-back and he is one of the defenders they are tracking.

The 25-year-old joined Udinese from CSKA Moscow in 2022 and has featured 58 times for the Serie A outfit.

Inter Milan, Lazio and Napoli are amongst the Serie A outfits who have their eyes on Bijol in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Bijol is a Slovenia international with over 50 caps to his name.
