Dean Smith’s MLS side Charlotte FC are trying to sign Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United within the next two days, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Former Aston Villa and Norwich City boss Smith took charge at Charlotte last year and the club are backing him in the market.
Smith wants Newcastle attacker Almiron and Charlotte are trying to deliver, with a club executive now in London for talks.
Newcastle are open to selling Almiron for the right price, but the deal will be tough to do as there are time constraints.
The transfer window in the MLS is due to slam shut in two days’ time.
Charlotte have already made an initial approach to Newcastle and are now trying their best to put a deal in place.
Almiron, 30, has experienced of the MLS as he played for Atlanta United before joining Newcastle in 2019.
The attacker has also been the subject of interest from sides in the Saudi Pro League, who have longer to sign him.
Charlotte FC currently sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
