Phillips has again been a fringe player at Manchester City this summer and he is finally considering leaving the club in the upcoming January transfer window.

Newcastle are claimed to be keen on landing Phillips, but face competition from Juventus, who are interested in signing him and officials from the club have already met the player’s camp over a potential move this winter.

Phillips is open to the move and Manchester City are also prepared to consider loan offers for the England midfielder in January.

Antonelli claimed that Juventus’ plans are likely to hinge on signing the midfielder on loan with an option to buy if he hits certain targets.

He is not expecting the Serie A giants to accept including an obligatory purchase clause in any loan deal for Phillips.

The Italian agent told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato: “Juventus will take Phillips on a well-paid expensive loan with an option to buy based on certain targets.

“They won’t make it an obligation but a right to buy, which means they will move.”

Whether Juventus’ stance puts them ahead of Newcastle in the hunt for Phillips is unclear.

Phillips wants to play more football in the latter half of the season ahead of next summer’s European Championship.
