Newcastle United have their eyes on the Salernitana trio of Lorenzo Pirola, Lassana Coulibaly and Boulaye Dia, it has been claimed in Italy.

Newcastle’s form in the Premier League has plummeted and they have lost four of their last five games in the league, as well as crashing out of the Champions League.

Eddie Howe is looking to bring in reinforcements to a squad that has been depleted due to injuries and suspensions.

Newcastle are looking at reinforcements in several areas of their squad and they have their eyes on the Italian market for possible options.

According to Italian daily La Repubblica (via Tutto Mercato), Pirola, Coulibaly and Dia are three of the Salernitana players the club are considering signing in January.

Howe wants reinforcements in defence and the 21-year-old Pirola has caught the eye of many with his performances at the heart of Salernitana’s backline.

Sandro Tonali’s absence has been a major blow for Newcastle this season and as a midfield option, the Magpies do like Coulibaly.

Newcastle are also looking at attacking reinforcements and Dia is being seen as an option that could be brought in to supplement their striking resources.

It is unlikely that Newcastle will sign all three players but the trio are on their radar ahead of the winter window.
