Rangers loan star Sam Lammers was the ‘worst man’ amongst the FC Utrecht team at RKC Waalwijk, coach Ron Jans admits, however he was never in danger of being brought off and ultimately scored.

With a push for a European spot on the agenda, Lammers has been a key man and sparked renewed hope for Utrecht with his goals.

Precious points were dropped in the Eredivisie at the weekend though as Utrecht were held to a 2-2 draw.

Lammers scored Utrecht’s late leveller in the game and Jans admits he was never going to bring the forward off despite him being the side’s worst performer.

The coach insists that the Rangers loan star has too much credit in the bank to be brought off and is simply a great striker.

“Sam was perhaps the worst man amongst us today”, Jans told Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad.

“But I never considered taking him off the pitch.

“He has simply built up too much credit with us for that.

“Sam is a really great striker and I sincerely hope we can keep him.”

Rangers could be open to selling Lammers in the summer transfer window given how he struggled at Ibrox during the first half of the season.

Lammers’ has caught the eye with his goals and performances at Utrecht and though the Dutch side would like to keep him they are likely to face competition for his signature.
