French forward Sidney Govou has ended his Greek adventure and signed for Ligue 1 new boys Evian.

Govou had been unhappy in the Greek capital with Panathinaikos and failed to ever really settle in the country. Having endured wave after wave of criticism from fans who felt he was more concerned with enjoying Athens’ nightlife than footballing attractions, his departure comes as little surprise.

And it is with newly promoted side Evian that the 31-year-old will now continue his career, with the player himself beaming with confidence upon his arrival.

"I am a winner", said Govou.

"More than a dressing room leader, I would say instead that I am a leader of effort."

Govou will now turn his attention to making sure Evian survive in next season’s Ligue 1. He has signed a two-year deal with the club.
