Highly-rated Norwegian defender Vegard Forren has vetoed a switch away from Molde after the club’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested he was on the brink of a move.

Forren’s agent Jim Solbakken has revealed that the 24-year-old centre-back does not believe the time is right to leave the Norwegian champions for the options on the table and, as a result, no deal has been sealed, despite it being widely expected that Forren would leave.

The defender has been linked with a whole host of clubs, including English Premier League giants Everton, whose manager David Moyes has made scouting trips to Norway to watch the player, and Manchester United, a club with which his Molde manager Solskjaer has extensive links.

The club closest to signing Forren has remained unnamed however, with interest too from teams in Belgium, Germany and Holland, but whatever options on the table there were, they do not appear to have pleased the stopper.

"There are several clubs that want to buy Vegard and that are willing to pay the amount Molde require", Solbakken told the Romdsals Budstikke.

"But several of them have not been in the final stage of negotiations with Molde because the player himself has indicated that he does not wish to join those clubs."

Forren is rated as an extremely bright defensive talent and the 24-year-old only enhanced his reputation last year as he helped Molde to retain the Norwegian title they won in 2011.

It remains to be seen whether any new offers materialise which tempt Forren to head away from his homeland for a new adventure.
