QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia has confirmed that Marseille striker Loic Remy has joined him at Loftus Road.

Remy had looked set to be moving to Newcastle United after the Magpies had a bid accepted by Marseille.

But Rs’ boss Harry Redknapp has worked his magic on the 26-year-old, who has now decided to swap the Stade Velodrome and a Ligue 1 title challenge for a relegation battle at Loftus Road.

And Mbia, who played alongside Remy at Marseille until this summer, is delighted.

"It’s official. Welcome Remy", announced Mbia via his Twitter feed.

QPR will hope Remy can help to fire them away from the drop zone.

Sources in France have claimed that the 26-year-old will be paid £83,000 per week by QPR.

It remains to be seen whether that is indeed the case, but QPR will not begrudge Remy any riches if he can secure them Premier League survival.
