Loic Remy concedes that the wages on offer at QPR were "interesting" and contributed to his decision to land at Loftus Road.
Marseille accepted offers from QPR and Newcastle in the January transfer window and Remy did appear to be heading to St. James’ Park.
But then he suddenly decided to join Harry Redknapp’s men and help QPR in their battle against relegation from the Premier League.
QPR pulled out all the stops to sign Remy, with wages which were even reported in some quarters as being as high as €100,000 per week.

He has impressed and was even on the scoresheet on Saturday when QPR won 2-1 away at Southampton to move to within four points of safety.
And Remy has spoken about just why he chose to head to QPR instead of Newcastle, a move which surprised many in his native France and some feel will damage his international ambitions.
"It surprised many people", he conceded, talking to beINSPORT about his choice of QPR.
"It is still London, with very good conditions.
"The level of wages too, that was interesting.
"This may be a hindrance to my international career, but I do not see things like that."
And Remy promised to do his best to help the Rs survive in the Premier League.
"I will make every effort to maintain the club’s status this season."
