Spartak Moscow are the latest club from Russia to try their hand at signing Liverpool target Toby Alderweireld, as Ajax technical director Marc Overmars revealed a bid was in place.
Overmars has not indicated which club made the approach but, according to De Telegraaf, Spartak are the only side with the funds to make it happen.
However, things may not be so easy for Spartak, as Alderweireld – alongside team-mate Christian Eriksen – has already rejected offers to join no less than CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg.
Alderweireld had been linked with a move to Norwich earlier in the summer, but the Belgian had politely refused the same to pursue "bigger-club" ambitions.

And Overmars was today quoted by De Telegraaf as saying: "We have received a bid. I will not reveal the name of the club because we are already quite busy at the moment.
"But just as it was with Norwich City, I think we should be able to come out with name at some point."
Earlier this month, it was understood that Everton had started competing with Liverpool for Alderweireld, who still has a year left on his contract.
However, should a move not happen this summer, the 24-year-old is not averse to penning a contract extension if it means that his club gain financially next year.
