FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala has once again started grabbing attention, after weeks of relative inactivity, with major clubs sending scouts over to watch him yesterday.

Manchester United, Barcelona, Everton and Brighton are just a few of the names linked with sending representatives to Portugal, according to Portuguese daily A Bola.

The match in question was Porto's 3-0 win over CS Maritimo, where even Montpellier and Levante turned up for a viewing.

The elite clubs could only watch Mangala for 46 minutes though, as he was substituted for Maicon in the second half, but other Porto stars were nevertheless on display.

The list of suitors is a far cry from earlier in the summer when only Chelsea and manager Jose Mourinho were taking note of the talented Frenchman.

However, a reported €50m release clause will be a testing factor for any club, not least for one in a division below the top flight.

Mangala's contract at Porto runs until 2016, while he is already a full international with France having debuted against Uruguay earlier this year.

The 22-year-old began his domestic career with Standard Liege and spent three years as an official member of their senior squad.

He has so far spent two years with Porto, and has clocked up a total of 50 appearances with even six goals scored.
