Borussia Monchengladbach have "absolutely" no interest in edging out Luuk de Jong even as the former Newcastle United target expressed his desire to play more.
De Jong joined Gladbach from FC Twente last year, joining the side ahead of Newcastle, but has made just 40 appearances for them so far with only 24 starts included.
There was talk of loaning De Jong out earlier this week when director Hans Meyer revealed that coach Lucien Favre was not wholly satisfied with the Dutchman.
However, when asked about a possible departure, sporting director Max Eberl was quoted by Bild as saying: "From our side, this question has absolutely not been raised.

"If we want to achieve our goal, we need a wide squad that also has strong quality. We want to finish the season with this squad.
"It's a difficult situation for Luuk, but we are just as happy to have him first in our squad as other clubs would be when they have such a player."
For his part, De Jong is keen to get back to a regular spot, having not made a single start in any competition this season.
"I want to play for Borussia, that's my goal", he said. "If the team needs me, I'm ready.
"I want to play from the first minute onwards. Things can move fast when a player is injured or suspended. Then I have to be ready and take my chances."
