Roma are preparing to step up their interest in Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye as coach Rudi Garcia plots a reunion with the France international.
Cabaye played under Garcia at Lille before joining Newcastle in 2011, winning the Ligue 1 title during his time at the northern French club.
Garcia is now at Roma and has the financial firepower to make a reunion with his former player a realistic proposition.
And according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the French tactician is keen to snap Cabaye up when the transfer window opens again in just over six weeks.

Cabaye was the subject of strong interest from Arsenal over the summer, with the Gunners seeing a bid for the midfielder rejected by Newcastle.
The France international even went on strike briefly in an attempt to force through a move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, Roma's fiercest rivals for Cabaye could be another Premier League club, with French sports daily L'Equipe confirming Liverpool are keen on the midfielder as a potential new year reinforcement.
It does though remain to be seen exactly what stance Newcastle will take over the pass-master.
