Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur targeted Croatian wunderkind Alen Halilovic.

The talented 17-year-old is a wanted man, especially with a contract at Dinamo Zagreb that is due to expire next summer.

Tottenham have led the hunt for Halilovic, with reports even emerging of a done deal between the player's representatives and the north London club.

That was premature, with Halilovic wanting guarantees over playing time and then Arsenal entering the race for his signature.

Now Dortmund are firmly on the scene, with the Bundesliga club's coach Jurgen Klopp having spoken to Halilovic's father in a bid to tempt the Croatian to continue his career at the Ruhr giants.

Klopp may need more than warm words to beat off interest from Arsenal and Tottenham however, and the transfer battle for Halilovic shows every sign of only just starting to heat up.

Halilovic has made nine appearances in the Croatian top flight for Dinamo Zagreb so far this season, while he was also involved in the club's campaign to qualify for the Champions League group stage.

At international level the starlet was involved in this year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup, turning out in all Croatia's three group games and even finding the back of the net in a 2-1 defeat to Uzbekistan.
