Chelsea have joined the hunt for Basel's highly-rated centre-back Fabian Schar, a player Blues boss Jose Mourinho took a close look at in the Champions League group stage this season.
Schar impressed in both Basel's group games against Mourinho's men, with the Swiss champions managing to down the Blues on both occasions, both at home and away.
The 22-year-old has already collected his fair share of suitors, with Arsenal firm fans of his talents, along with Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Inter.
Now Chelsea are on Schar's tail, with Mourinho plotting a potential offer for the Switzerland international defender.
Schar was picked up by Basel from Swiss second tier outfit FC Wil in 2012, with the club's chief scout enthusing about his talents and rapid progress up the footballing tree.
Indeed, Schar is now firmly established in the Switzerland national team, having made his bow last year and clocked up five senior caps already, as well as being rated as one of the finest talents in the country.
This year the 22-year-old has made 15 Swiss Super League appearances for Basel, chipping in with three goals and two assists.
His contract with Basel runs until 2015, though the club retain an option to extend that for a further year.
