Marc Bartra's suitors look set for disappointment with the young defender favouring remaining at Barcelona and signing a new contract.

The young Spaniard has started nine La Liga games for Barcelona this term and, while he is keen for more playing time, according to Catalan daily Sport, Barta is prepared to sign a fresh deal.

His current contract at the Camp Nou comes to an end this summer and a new five-year deal looks to be on the table for the 22-year-old.

That would also include a hefty salary increase for Bartra, to sweeten the pill of staying put.

The news will be a blow to Bartra's suitors, a list which is believed to include English Premier League giants Chelsea.

A product of Barcelona's esteemed youth system, the young centre-back has risen up the ranks at the Camp Nou, while in tandem making progress up the international ladder.

That culminated in his senior Spain debut in November last year.
