Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho today dodged the question on Kurt Zouma, despite the Saint-Etienne defender claiming he had been contacted by the Portuguese.

Zouma had, earlier this month, revealed he was interested in a move to Chelsea – "blue is my favourite colour" – after Mourinho had seemingly called him.

Monaco, Liverpool and Manchester United are already among the clubs admiring Zouma, who had also been a similar transfer target last summer.

However, Mourinho gave no indication either way on whether he had actually made the phone call and, indeed, if Zouma was destined for Stamford Bridge.

"Chelsea thinks about the future", Mourinho told a press conference today, when asked about Zouma and the player's claim of a personal phone call.

"And when we think about the future, we have scouting, we contact clubs, agents, we contact players when we have permission from clubs.

"We try to be in control of the situation. But we think we are doing fine; we are doing well.

"This window, if you see what we did with [Juan] Mata and Kevin De Bruyne, compared with bringing in [Nemanja] Matic and [Mohamed] Salah, we changed two for two.

"The club is doing fantastically in that aspect. I try to do my best in terms of the choices. We hope there aren't [any more arrivals]."
