Chelsea custodian Petr Cech has expressed his delight at being provided with the opportunity to play his 100th match in the Champions League.

Having made his debut in the tournament 12 years ago for Czech side Sparta Prague, Cech went on to become one of the leading goalkeepers of Europe.

His move to Stamford Bridge in 2004 saw him soon become Chelsea's number one. Cech won the Golden Glove Award in his debut season in the Premier League, keeping a record 21 clean sheets in the league.

"If you play football you just dream to have at least one start", Cech told his club's official website while recalling his initial years.

"I've been really fortunate to have played so many.

"One hundred games is a great achievement."

The 2011/12 European champions take on Turkish side Galatasaray in the Round of 16 of the Champions League tonight, with the tie well-balanced from the 1-1 draw in the first leg.

A win on Tuesday would therefore be of particular significance for Cech as well as his team-mates.

Chelsea are also vying for the Premier League title this season, and are currently placed at the top of the table with 66 points from 30 games.
