Olivier Giroud has hailed Arsenal's 4-1 destruction of Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium today and believes the Gunners could have won by an even greater margin.

Arsenal started the brighter of the two teams at the Emirates Stadium and quickly began to dominate possession, however finding a goal proved tough, despite the Gunners carving Liverpool open on several occasions.

The breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Hector Bellerin curled a shot into the corner of the Liverpool net following a good move.

Arsenal then quickly extended their advantage three minutes later when Mesut Ozil hit a superb free-kick from 25 yards into the back of the net.

And then Liverpool were properly killed off in the 45th minute when Alexis Sanchez hit a powerful drive past Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool did pull a goal back from the penalty spot in the 76th minute after the Reds were awarded a penalty for a foul on Raheem Sterling, but a late sending off for Emre Can made for a miserable afternoon for the visitors, while Giroud hit Arsenal's fourth at the death.

Giroud was delighted with Arsenal's win and believes they could have even beaten Liverpool more comfortably than the 4-1 scoreline suggests.

He told BT Sport: "Liverpool lost the ball a lot at the back in the first half and we could have scored even more goals in the first 45 minutes, but we were obviously really pleased to back in dressing room at 3-0."

The Frenchman however is not getting carried away with title talk and added: "We want to finish strongly, but we have to take it game by game and focus on ourselves before looking at Chelsea and Man City's results.

"We want to win every single game and then we'll see what happens."
