Santi Cazorla is aiming to turn out for Real Oviedo before he hangs up his boots, although he accepts joining the Spanish outfit in the short term may be "difficult".
Cazorla learned his trade at his boyhood club from the age of nine to 18, at which time he was sold to Villarreal amid financial concerns at Real Oviedo.
As a result the Spain international did not make a senior appearance for Real Oviedo and that is something he wants to put right before he retires.
Cazorla, who currently turns out for English giants Arsenal, has been linked with Atletico Madrid at points over the last year. But the midfielder says when he returns to Spain it will be with Real Oviedo.
He told Elite Sport Magazine, speaking about Real Oviedo: "It is the club of my home and I will be a supporter all my life.

"It is the club where I grew up from nine to 18. I spent my career there, I learned a lot as a player and hopefully I can wear that shirt.
"In the short term it will be difficult, but hopefully in a few years I can do that", Cazorla added.
The midfielder also took time to ponder over the players Real Oviedo have produced, players that the club may have been able to flourish with had they been able to keep.
Cazorla pointed to Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, Napoli forward Michu and FC Porto striker Adrian as evidence of a superb youth system.
"Michu, Juan and Adrian. Oviedo had a spectacular youth system", the Arsenal man said.
Cazorla also hopes that Real Oviedo can reach the Spanish second tier this season, feeling the city badly needs it. They currently sit top of the Segunda B Grupo 1.
"This year finally they are going to have a great chance to get promoted, something that the club and the city need."
