Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in former Liverpool and Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles.

Spurs recently sold Benjamin Stambouli to French champions Paris Saint-Germain and are in the market to add a midfielder to their ranks this summer.

Now they are looking at a player with Premier League experience in Meireles, who has been tipped to depart current club Fenerbahce.

According to Sky Italia, Spurs have held talks with Meireles' agent to enquire about the Portuguese's availability this summer.

The White Hart Lane outfit believe that Meireles could fit the bill and are considering a move for the former Liverpool man, who played for 78 minutes in tonight's 3-0 Champions League defeat for Fenerbahce against Shakhtar Donetsk, which puts the Turkish side out of the competition.

Meireles moved to England in 2010, joining Liverpool from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

He remained at Anfield for just a year before being tempted to Stamford Bridge by Chelsea.

The 32-year-old, who has won 76 caps for Portugal at international level, left England to sign for Fenerbahce in 2012.
