Stoke City midfielder Marco van Ginkel has insisted that he is disappointed to see Chelsea struggling in the current campaign.

The 22-year-old, who was deemed surplus to requirement by Blues boss Jose Mourinho at the start of the season, joined the Potters on a season-long loan deal in the summer.




The Premier League champions have however struggled in the league and presently find themselves 16th in the standings with just 11 points from 12 games.

But Van Ginkel, whose present employers have managed to defeat Chelsea on two occasions this season, explained that he still supports the London outfit.
 


“It was strange to see Chelsea twice in just over a week”, he told Chelsea TV.

“Yes, I still support Chelsea, but now I am at Stoke. I feel disappointed with Chelsea’s recent results."

The Netherlands international further added that he intends to return to Stamford Bridge prepared next season by accumulating a considerable amount of game-time under his belt this term.

“My aims for the season? To be important for Stoke, to play a lot of games and to be prepared to return to Chelsea next season”, he added.

Van Ginkel, who joined Chelsea from Vitesse in 2013, has found it hard to settle at the club due to his numerous injury woes.

He spent the 2014/15 campaign on loan at AC Milan.
