Petr Cech is of the opinion that Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Olympiacos last night will boost his side’s confidence for the rest of the season.
The Gunners were the favourites to crash out of the Champions League as they had to win by two or more goals in Greece to progress in the Champions League.
However, an Olivier Giroud hat-trick enabled Arsenal to book their place in the knockout rounds of the continental tournament at the expense of Olympiacos, who won the corresponding fixture 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium in September.
And Cech, who has previously won the Champions League in Chelsea colours, hailed his side’s victory over Olympiacos as “massive.”
“Well it is a massive win for us, the club, the supporters and for the future because it will give us confidence”, the custodian told the club’s official site.

“We wanted to go through and we obviously left it really late but to win this game against a very good team like Olympiacos and away [from home]… we knew winning the game was not enough, we had to score two goals and we did that.”
Arsenal leapfrogged Olympiacos to second spot in Group F with nine points, owing to their better head-to-head record.
Arsene Wenger’s men will now turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they will play bottom-placed Aston Villa in an away fixture on Sunday.
