Monaco are leading the chase to sign out-of-favour Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen in next month's transfer window, while the Dane's former club Borussia Monchengladbach continue to monitor developments in the saga.
Christensen, who is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League under Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri this term, is attracting attention from a number of clubs across Europe.
Ligue 1 strugglers Monaco have identified the Chelsea outcast as a potential target ahead of the winter transfer window starting in January, and are leading the chase, according to German outlet Fussball Transfers.
However, Thierry Henry and Monaco are expected to face stiff competition for the services of Christensen from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, who are keeping tabs on the defender’s situation in west London.
Christensen, who spent two seasons on loan at Gladbach, was a stand-out performer for Chelsea last season after being recalled to Stamford Bridge under the manager Antonio Conte.
Despite making 40 appearances across all competitions under Conte, Christensen has struggled to force himself into Sarri’s plans so far this term in the capital and could well be angling for a move in search of regular involvement.
Christensen, who represented Denmark at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, has earned 23 caps for the national team since making his debut in 2015.
The 22-year-old has a contract with Chelsea that runs out in 2022 and is regarded as a huge prospect, despite featuring sparingly so far this season.
