Liverpool have begun the season on a subpar note by their standards, collecting just nine points from their opening six games and finding themselves in eighth place in the Premier League table.

Due to the pausing of games and then the international break, when Liverpool take on Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend, it will be their first Premier League match in nearly a month.

Sutton thinks that following the uninspiring start to the season, the extended break may have come as a chance to regroup for Liverpool.

Further, Sutton thinks that a busy schedule in October may help them get in rhythm and he predicted that the Reds will win against Brighton come the weekend.

“Liverpool made an extremely flat start to the season so maybe the pause in the season following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and then the international break came at a good time for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp”, Sutton wrote in his BBC Sport column.

“October is an extremely busy month for the Reds, with nine games in total, and playing so often might just help them to get their rhythm back.

“I am backing them to start that process here, and get the month off to a winning start – although it won’t be straightforward.”

Liverpool follow a busy schedule leading up to the World Cup, playing twice every week, and they will be hoping their next break sees them in a much better spot than they are right now.
