Shaw has established himself as the first-choice left-back at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag despite the arrival of Tyrell Malacia last summer.

The England defender’s importance to Ten Hag can be gauged from the fact that he has been favoured over Harry Maguire at centre-back in certain games.

The 27-year-old has a year left to run on his new deal but his future at Manchester United is likely to be sorted out soon.

It has been claimed that a deal is close to getting agreed upon between the player and the club for a new long-term contract.

Shaw will soon commit his future to Manchester United and clear any doubts over his future at Old Trafford.

The defender got an extended break after he picked up a red card for England against Italy and will be fit and fresh for Manchester United’s run-in in the league, the Europa League and the FA Cup.

He is likely to start at left-back on Sunday when Manchester United visit St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle United.
