The Clarets want to sign the Switzerland international attacker and have been holding talks with Basel – now the indications are they could be about to get their man.
Basel have confirmed that Amdouni is not training with their first team today as he is set to leave the club.
Amdouni is undergoing a medical at another side as he looks to complete a switch away from St Jakob Park.
Basel said in a statement: “Zeki Amdouni is currently not in training with the first team.
“He is about to make a move and is doing medical tests at another club.”
Burnley look likely to be the club that Amdouni is set to join, barring a late twist in the transfer saga.
Vincent Kompany wants to add the 22-year-old to his attacking options, with the Belgian understanding the importance of increased firepower in the Premier League.
Amdouni grabbed 22 goals for Basel across all competitions last term and caught the eye in the Swiss side’s run in the Europa Conference League, where they reached the semi-final.
