Scamacca has been on Roma’s wish list all summer but talks between the two clubs earlier in the window produced no results.
West Ham were not interested in just loaning the forward out and have been insisting on including an obligatory purchase clause if not a clear sale.
Inter Milan and AC Milan have entered the mix as well for Scamacca, who is keen to return to Italy after one average season in England.
According to Italian daily Il Tempo (via LaRoma24.it), the Giallorossi are again in contact with West Ham for the signature of the striker.
Roma have been looking at other forwards as well but Scamacca has remained their top target.
No agreement is in place between the two clubs but they are talking about holding a summit soon.
Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto is likely to travel to London soon and hold talks with West Ham.
