Clement made the bold move to replace Cantwell after just 36 minutes in his side’s 1-1 draw against Aris Limassol at Ibrox in the Europa League last week.

The midfielder started against St. Mirren over the weekend and played a pivotal role by creating both goals in a 2-0 win for Rangers.

He responded positively to the challenge thrown at him by the manager and Clement admitted that he has had long and positive conversations with Cantwell to get a better understanding of his personality.

The Rangers boss believes Cantwell is a great example for others and he is looking to have more such conversations with individual players going forward.

Clement said in a press conference: “Todd was a great example this week, we had really good talks and I got to know the player better.

“That will be a very interesting thing when we go on individual training camp in training.

“I always take time to have talks with each individual player.”

Rangers will take on Hearts in a Scottish Premiership game at Tynecastle this evening and all eyes will be on whether Cantwell will start.
