Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou remains keen on Borussia Monchengladbach defender Ko Itakura, who has a release clause valid for next summer.

Postecoglou has already added one centre-back to the ranks at Tottenham this month with the capture of Radu Dragusin from Genoa.

He is expected to continue his rebuild in the summer and could head for Germany for another recruit.

Postecoglou is a big fan of Gladbach’s Japanese defender Itakura and rates him, according to Sky Deutschland.

In the summer, Itakura will have a release clause which is between €10m and €15m.

Tottenham could view that as an opportunity to pick up a top defender for an affordable price.

Gladbach for their part are keen to convince Itakura to stay and put pen to paper to a new contract at Borussia-Park.

The defender, who has won 23 caps for Japan at international level, is a key man for Gladbach and they do not want to lose him.
