Southampton are set to win the race for Leeds United target David Brooks and put him through a medical on Tuesday after they reached an agreement over a loan deal with Bournemouth, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Brooks has been a squad player at Dean Court this season and has made just two Premier League starts.
He has not been an important member of the Cherries squad and the club have been open to letting him go in the ongoing transfer window, with interest from the division below.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds have been keen to sign Brooks, but faced competition from Championship rivals Southampton and it is Saints who are coming out on top.
It has been claimed that a deal is in place between Bournemouth and Southampton for Brooks to move to St. Mary’s in the coming days.
With an agreement in place to sign him, Southampton have already booked the winger for a medical on Tuesday.
He will travel to Southampton’s training ground on Tuesday where he will be put through his paces by the club.
Brooks will sign a loan contract with the club and will hope to help Southampton’s promotion push in the Championship in the latter half of the season.
Losing out on Brooks will be a blow for Leeds and it remains to be seen if they come to regret seeing him join promotion rivals Southampton.
