Italian lawyer Daniele Piraino has admitted that Lecce could revive their interest in Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke in the summer transfer window.

Lagerbielke came close to leaving Celtic in the winter transfer window and was expected to join Italian side Lecce.

A deal was in place between the two clubs and the defender was expected to travel to Italy to complete the move towards the end of the window.

However, fresh injury concerns in their defence meant Celtic decided to block the Swedish defender’s move to Italy last week.

Piraino, who was involved in the negotiations, admitted that the deal came very close to completion before Celtic decided to block the move.

He insisted that Lecce could consider reviving their interest in Lagerbielke, who was prepared to take a pay cut to move to Italy.

Piraino told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato: “The boy was already on his way to Lecce with the consent of Celtic and he would have reduced his salary to go and play for Lecce.

“In the end, due to an injury to a team-mate, the Scottish club decided to block everything.

“Maybe we will talk about it again in July.”

Lagerbielke has been a bit part player at Celtic and could be allowed to leave in the summer window.
