Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Wrexham did not try to bring in Leicester City talent Silko Thomas, who has joined Wigan Athletic, according to Wigan Today.

The 20-year-old winger spent time in the youth ranks at Chelsea before being picked up by Leicester when the Blues released him.

Leicester have now sanctioned a first loan move for Thomas and it is to League One side Wigan he is heading.

It is suggested that Thomas chose Wigan ahead of another club in League One with a bigger budget and who have been doing a lot of business this summer.

Birmingham, Charlton and Wrexham were all floated as suggestions of who that club are.

None of the trio though are the side who tried to beat Wigan to the Leicester winger.

Wigan sealed the deal by convincing Thomas about the project on offer at the club and the playing style.

The Latics will now hope to see the Leicester wide-man flourish in League One and make a big impact.

Thomas snubbed a more lucrative proposal in order to play for Wigan.
