Luton Town are on the cusp of signing Spanish midfielder Lamine Fanne from Swedish side AIK ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

AIK signed Fanne, 20, last year and he has made 13 senior appearances for the club thus far in Sweden.

However, that has been enough to convince Luton to secure a deal for the signature of the midfielder from AIK this summer.

According to Swedish daily Expressen, a deal is in place between the two clubs for Fanne to move to the Championship side this summer.

Luton have agreed to pay an initial fee of just over £3.7m to convince AIK to sell the defensively-minded midfielder in the ongoing transfer window.

If the add-ons kick in due to his performance in England, AIK could earn as much as £5.2m from the sale of Fanne.

The plan is for the midfielder to fly out to England on Thursday and undergo a medical with the Championship side ahead of signing a contract.

However, Luton will leave Fanne on loan at AIK until the January transfer window, which will allow him to see out the Swedish season.
