Southampton will soon be contacted by a club that want to do a deal for a Saints star ‘as soon as possible’ as they are convinced he can shine in their league.
Saints boss Russell Martin is preparing for the approaching January transfer window and it might be a crucial chance for him to turn around his side’s faltering season.
Southampton lost 2-0 away at Wolves before the international break and Martin used all five of his substitutes at Molineux to try to salvage the match.
One player introduced off the bench was striker Paul Onuachu, who spent last season in Turkey at Trabzonspor on loan.
He has had only limited game time at Southampton and Trabzonspor would like him back, however they now face competition from league rivals Besiktas.
According to Turkish daily Fotomac (via A Spor), Besiktas have decided they want to sign the Saints hitman and will make contact with the Premier League club very soon.
They are determined to do the deal as soon as possible, with the Black Eagles convinced that given how he performed last season on loan that he can shine in the Turkish Super Lig for them.
Onuachu is likely to be open to heading back to Turkey, but it is unclear if he has his heart set on Trabzonspor or would accept Besiktas as an alternative destination.
