Championship side Portsmouth have ‘an agreement in place’ with Australian outfit Brisbane Roar to sign Thomas Waddingham, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Pompey had a promising previous campaign which saw them gain promotion to the English second tier this term.
John Mousinho’s side, though, have been struggling and are currently sitting 21st in the Championship table, right around the relegation zone.
They have shown signs of promise with some wins over the course of the season and adding a striker to the ranks has been a priority for them.
Now Pompey have reached an agreement to sign Australia Under-23 international Waddingham, who is considered a promising talent in Australia.
Fellow Championship sides QPR and Sheffield Wednesday were also interested in the 19-year-old, but he is set to go to Fratton Park.
He came through Brisbane Roar’s academy and has scored eleven league goals in 34 senior appearances for them.
Now it is a matter of time before Pompey put Waddingham through his medical before announcing his capture.
