The 21-year-old joined Championship club Blackburn from Premier League outfit Leeds on a season-long loan towards the end of the recently concluded transfer window.

Poveda clocked 60 minutes on his debut for Rovers last month, but missed the side’s home game against Luton Town at the weekend due to a hamstring injury.

Providing an update on the Leeds loan star’s injury, Blackburn boss Mowbray revealed that the winger is unlikely to return to action against Hull City on Tuesday.

Mowbray pointed out that Poveda had a good fitness record at Leeds, but feels he needs to adapt to Blackburn’s training system, which he claims is different to the one at Elland Road.

I don’t think so [Poveda will return for Tuesday’s match against Hull]“, Mowbray was quoted as saying by Lancs Live.

He’s a kid who’s never had an injury, he’s come from Leeds United with the physical data of being one of the fittest and within a week or two he’s got a slight hamstring strain.

It’s a different type of training I think, the body has to adapt.

It’s a mild strain but I expect he will start training on Monday.

Whether we can risk him on Tuesday I doubt that but we hope to have him ready for Barnsley on Saturday.

Poveda, who has joined Blackburn with the aim of earning regular playing time, will be hopeful of returning to action soon and establish himself as a key member of Mowbray’s team.
