Genoa are braced for Tottenham Hotspur to contact them within the next few hours to open talks for defender Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham have prioritised signing a defender in January following difficulties they faced in that area over the course of the first half of the season.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has played down thoughts of a quick return for summer signing Micky van de Ven, but even with the Dutchman on his way back is keen on another centre-back.

Dragusin has emerged as a key target for Tottenham and Postecoglou is keen for business to be done early in the January transfer window.

And, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Tottenham will establish contact with Genoa over the next few hours to open talks.

However, Tottenham are not prepared to meet Genoa’s asking price of €30m for Dragusin.

In spite of that, the proposal is expected to be significant one and is set to make Genoa think.

Tottenham though have Napoli waiting on the sidelines, with Walter Mazzarri monitoring the Romanian, who he sees as a replacement for the injured Natan.

With Spurs upping the ante though, the pressure will be on Napoli to respond.
