Steve Bruce’s men have had a solid start to their 2020/21 campaign, winning their Premier League opener and EFL Cup tie against West Ham and Blackburn Rovers, respectively.

Newcastle are now scheduled to play their first home game of the league campaign against Graham Potter’s Brighton, who suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in their opener.

Despite the Seagulls coming into the game on the back of a defeat, Manquillo, who has started in both of Newcastle’s games so far, has refused to take them lightly.

The Spanish right-back is wary of the threat posed by Brighton, who he feels took the challenge to Chelsea, but has insisted that Newcastle have set their eyes having three more points in their bag.

I think it’s going to be a very tough game for us, because we all saw the other day just how difficult Brighton made things for Chelsea – even though in the end, the final result may have told a different story“, Manquillo said on NUFC TV.

So I think it’s not going to be an easy game at all for us.

“But we will go out with the attitude of going all out for the three points, because we’re playing at home and it’s our chance to start out Premier League season with two wins.

Newcastle have kept two clean sheets in their competitive games so far and will be looking to carry on the momentum when Brighton visit St. James’ Park on Sunday.
