Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has claimed that Liverpool linked midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has not asked to be sold in the summer transfer window.

Koopmeiners has been heavily linked with a move away from Atalanta in the upcoming summer transfer window.

He is the top target for Juventus and Liverpool are also believed to be interested in getting their hands on the Dutch midfielder.

The Dutchman recently claimed that he has told Atalanta that he wants to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

However, Percassi insisted that nothing of that sort has happened and Koopmeiners has not asked to be moved on in the summer.

The Atalanta CEO also claimed that the club are on strong financial footing and do not need to sell a key player such as the Dutch midfielder.

Percassi told local daily L’Eco di Bergamo (via Tutto Mercato): “The club are solid and do not need to sell.

“Koopmeiners will not be sold to Juventus or anyone else and nor has he asked to be sold.”

It remains to be seen whether Koopmeiners tries to force the issue if Atalanta do not want to sell him.
