Former Argentina star Daniel Bertoni thinks that Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho could find an offer from Napoli too irresistible to turn down due to the Diego Maradona factor.

The Red Devils are trying to find stability on the pitch and financial stability as well as they look to back new boss Ruben Amorim.

They are keen on offloading some players and the likes of highly-rated Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho have been linked with a possible move away from Old Trafford.

The Argentina forward has been the subject of an offer from Napoli, but Manchester United value him at a higher price.

Bertoni, a former Argentina international who played for Napoli, thinks that as an Argentine and with the Maradona connection, Garnacho might not be able to say no to the Italians.

He also admitted that he is hoping Garnacho does make the move.

“Garnacho is not Maradona, let’s be clear. If you ask an Argentine about Naples he will always say yes, maybe the choice of the new destination will also be based on that”, Bertoni said via Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Diego? He loved Naples, but his homeland was Argentina. You cannot say that if he had stayed in Naples he would still be alive today.

“I hope Garnacho arrives and makes Napoli fans dream.”

Napoli will be looking to see if they can get an agreement with Manchester United for Garnacho over the line in the coming days.
