Former Bristol City star Louis Carey has revealed that he was surprised to see a real lack of quality from Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening.

The Hornets are currently sitting fifth in the Championship after 17 league games, but they have gone down to a substantial six losses.

On Tuesday night they came out victorious 1-0 at Vicarage Road against Bristol City despite the Robins having double their attempts on goal and bossing many aspects of the game.

Ex-Bristol City man Carey stressed that he wanted to see how Watford were playing which has put them so high up in the league table.

However, the former Robins star admitted that the Hornets’ lack of quality and lack of energy against his former side left him very disappointed, despite Watford registering a win.

“Yes I was really surprised at their lack of energy and lack of quality”, Carey said on Robins TV about the Vicarage Road outfit.

“And really surprised that they are in the top five of the Championship at the moment.

“I was really interested to see how and why, but on the evening really disappointed, however I think a lot of that disappointment was down to Bristol City’s really good start to the game.”

Up next, Watford are set to host bottom-of-the-table QPR this weekend and will look to secure three points with a more stable performance to stay in and around the playoff spots.
