Joseph Paintsil, who Leeds United pushed to try to sign last summer, has landed in Los Angeles to complete a move to LA Galaxy.

The attacker was a player that Leeds were hugely keen on signing and they agreed a deal with Belgian side Genk.

Paintsil though could not reach an agreement with Genk on a loyalty bonus he felt he was owed and the move collapsed.

Southampton and Burnley also looked at signing the attacker before the transfer window closed, but the saga will not be repeated this summer.

Paintsil is moving to the MLS, where the winter transfer window remains open for business.

He has now landed in Los Angeles, according to the Athletic, and is set to complete a move to LA Galaxy.

The American side are splashing a huge $9m to take Paintsil to the US.

LA Galaxy will be looking to see Paintsil live up to the potential he has shown for Genk in the coming MLS campaign.

It remains to be seen if English sides will revisit their interest in future windows, especially if he shines in America.
