Former Hibernian attacker Tam McManus believes that Rangers were not convincing under Philippe Clement even on the lengthy winning run they went on.

Rangers slipped up against Motherwell last weekend and suffered a shock loss at Ibrox, but prior to that they had been in dominant form.

Clement’s men looked like a winning machine as they claimed the summit of the Scottish Premiership from rivals Celtic.

This coming weekend Hibernian will try to get the better of Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

Former Hibs man McManus is hoping they can and has offered words of comfort by explaining that, in his view, the winning run Rangers went on was not that convincing.

“Up until last Saturday, Rangers had put together a strong run of results, but I still don’t think they were that convincing”, McManus wrote in his Daily Record column.

“Motherwell got at them and made life very uncomfortable. That’s what Hibs need to do this weekend.

“They’ve proved they have it in them. They gave Celtic a chasing for 45 minutes recently and it was brutal the way they lost it at the end.

“The performances in the last few weeks suggest they have turned a corner under [Nick] Montgomery. Hibs certainly have the firepower to hurt any team.”

Clement’s side are in Europa League action this evening when they take on Benfica in Portugal and Hibs will hope the demands of the game have an impact on the Gers at the weekend.
